Even though it’s pretty early on in the week, I’ve already messed up my stats midterm and computer science quiz. I’ve been consoling myself with lots and lots of junk food, which has been (minimally) reducing the sting of two more upcoming midterms within the next 2 days. Overall, school has been very stressful and I can’t say I’m particularly enjoying it.

I might watch Paranormal Activity this Friday! I’m a big believer in that kind of stuff to begin with, so I’m interested to find out what effect this movie has on me. (I’ll probably be the paranoid crazy person afraid to sleep without the lights on for a week, actually.) Horror movies always manage to freak me out, yet I continue to subject myself to the following sleepless nights.

On a different note, this is the laptop cover I made over a week ago. Helga was getting quite scratchy, so being cheap as usual, I refused to pay $20 for a sticker and headed off to Staples, this being the end result. (They sell adhesive, laminated stuff for around 2 dollars!) The leaves and vines were made from wrapping paper I had sitting at home. I love saving money!

As I was walking through a parking lot today, I saw a car with the following message written into the dirty windows:

"IF ONLY MY WIFE WERE THIS DIRTY!"

This week was very eventful to say the least, and overall, I'd say university is off to a good start! My classes are all fairly enjoyable so far, but math is still confusing to me. Computer Science and Stats seem really interesting, but my favourite class so far is definitely Economics! The professor is hilarious and is constantly cracking jokes during the lesson. (Plus, he plays music at the beginning of every class, and who doesn't like that?)

I've got a pile of homework left to complete, but I think I can put that off until tomorrow. I also ended up getting one of those rolling backpacks today, since my back's been giving me some minor problems lately.

This was a short update, but hopefully I'll have more energy to write more later. To all of you starting/started university/college, I hope all is well!

Today when I got home, I got a letter with news of being the recipient for the RBC Future Leaders Award! It was worth $1000.00 and includes a ticket to this Education Matters dinner thingy, all the way in December. Needless to say, it was a very pleasant surprise, and my year at university is now paid off! =) I still have to write the thank-you letter, as well as fill out a few other forms before everything is finalized.

This week at orientation was very fun, which included meeting fantastic new people, receiving free stuff, and eating tons of unhealthy, yummy food. I'm really excited to begin school on the eighth, but also very nervous. The used book store was also giving away free books again, and I managed to pick up a book on finance notes. Manjot introduced me to Opa and I think it's the beginning of a new addiction!
